At the Machame Gate, you’ll complete the registration and receive a briefing from your guide. Afterward, the trek commences as you enter the rainforest, taking the well-established path that will guide you upward to Machame Camp.

After reaching Machame Camp, you’ll settle in for a restful night, surrounded by the sights and sounds of the forest.

📍 Distance: 5 km (5-7 hours)

On Day 2, you’ll leave the rainforest behind and start your ascent to the Shira Plateau. The terrain changes as you leave the dense forest and climb through moorland, giving you beautiful views of Kilimanjaro.

The trail becomes steeper as you get closer to the Shira Plateau. Upon arrival at Shira Camp, you’ll be treated to stunning panoramic views of Kilimanjaro’s glaciers and the surrounding landscape. Here, you’ll have your dinner and rest overnight in preparation for the next day’s trek.

📍 Distance: 10 km (6-8 hours)
🚙 Activity: Trek from Shira Camp to Barranco Camp
🍽 Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 3 involves a longer trek through alpine desert terrain as you make your way to Barranco Camp. The trail ascends slightly before you reach the Lava Tower, which stands as a great viewpoint for those looking to appreciate the vastness of Kilimanjaro.

After the Lava Tower, the trail descends to Barranco Camp, where you will spend the night. This day is critical for acclimatization, and the gradual increase in altitude will help prepare your body for the summit.

As you reach Karanga Camp, you’ll find yourself surrounded by more barren landscapes, with impressive views of the summit looming in the distance. This camp provides another excellent spot for acclimatization before heading to the higher altitudes.
